Seven Bridges is an interactive installation that turns movement and presence into a shared experience of sound and light. It invites people to connect across space, revealing the city as something built through participation rather than separation.
How to engage…..
To engage with the installation, 2 people must stand on the pressure mats at either end of a bridge. When the corresponding bridge lights up a new aspect of the musical arrangement will be unlocked. Note: You may have to lend your weight to very small children in order to engage the pressure pads

Concept
Since 122 AD there has been a bridge over the River Tyne. The installation celebrates and explores Newcastle and Gateshead as a bridge building community. Seven bridges stretch across the space, each one activated only when two people work together.

Installation Details
Seven suspended fabric bridges span the atrium, each aligned with a corresponding floor mat and embedded sensor at either end. When both ends are activated, layers of a single composition unfold through sound and light, building a shared, evolving arrangement across the space
